For comparison: traditional contingent recruiters typically charge 20–30% of first-year CTC, paid entirely on day one, with no skin in the game after the offer letter is signed. Our model is a single month's salary, paid only when the match holds.

Two sides, two arrangements

Companies pay this. Candidates don't.

Just so there's no confusion: the 8.34% on this page is what your company pays when you hire someone through Engagetal. It's entirely separate from anything a candidate may have paid us — and most candidates pay nothing.

Companies Pay our placement fee

You pay 8.34% of the candidate's first-year CTC, split 50/50 across hire and the six-month mark. That's the entire commercial relationship. No retainers, no platform fees, no per-candidate charges.

Candidates Free, in most cases

  • Developers who join the talent pool directly pay nothing. Vetting is free. Matching is free. We make our money from the company that hires them.
  • Developers who go through the Fellowship Program pay separately for the training itself — either ₹2,00,000 + GST upfront, or via an Income Share Agreement. That fee covers the six-month training. It's not a placement fee.
  • Either way, the candidate-side fees and the company-side fees never overlap, double-bill, or affect each other.
Pricing FAQ

Common questions.

Why 8.34%?
It's roughly one twelfth of the annual salary — about one month's pay. We picked it because it's a clean, defensible number that's a fraction of what traditional contingent recruiters charge (20–30%) while still letting us run a sustainable business that invests in vetting and matching.
What happens if the candidate doesn't make it to six months?
The second 4.17% is never invoiced. That's the whole point of the split — if the match doesn't hold, we don't get paid in full. If the match breaks down in the first 90 days, we'll also re-match you free of charge.
Is the fee charged on base salary or total CTC?
Total first-year fixed CTC, including base salary, fixed allowances, and any guaranteed bonus. Variable performance bonuses, signing bonuses, and equity are excluded from the calculation.
Are there minimum or maximum fees?
No floors and no ceilings. The fee scales linearly with CTC — 8.34% whether you hire a senior engineer at ₹15 LPA or a staff engineer at ₹60 LPA.
What about contract or fractional engineers?
For contract engagements we charge a transparent monthly fee on top of the engineer's pay rate. Talk to us — we'll send specifics for your engagement type.
Do candidates know what we're paying?
We don't share the specific fee with candidates by default, but we're transparent about the fact that our model is success-based and paid by the hiring company. We never reduce a candidate's compensation to absorb our fee.
Can we hire someone we already knew via Engagetal?
If we introduced you to a candidate through our platform, the fee applies if you hire them within twelve months. If you genuinely sourced them yourself before our intro, no fee applies — we'll work it out fairly.
