The Engagetal Fellowship is a six-month, full-time programme for developers who already have a foundation and want to build on it properly, with one-to-one mentorship from working senior engineers. Pay upfront, or sign an Income Share Agreement and only pay once you land a great job.

What it is

Not a bootcamp. A fellowship.

Bootcamps teach you syntax. Fellowships build engineers. You'll work on real codebases, get reviewed by senior engineers, design systems from scratch, and finish with a portfolio that recruiters don't need to squint at.

Month 1: 2

Engineering fundamentals

Data structures, algorithms, system design primitives. You'll move from intermediate to fluent in two languages and understand how computers actually work.

Month 2: 3

Production web systems

Build a full-stack product from scratch. APIs, databases, auth, caching, queues, observability. Deploy to real infrastructure and handle real traffic.

Month 3: 4

System design at scale

Design systems for millions of users. Study outages and postmortems from real companies. Design reviews with senior engineers every week.

Month 4: 5

AI-native engineering

Retrieval, embeddings, agents, evals. Build production-grade LLM applications that don't hallucinate. Ship one real AI product.

Month 5: 6

Open-source contributions

Contribute to real open-source projects with senior maintainers. Your first merged PR is your best interview credential.

Month 6

Placement & matching

Mock interviews, offer negotiation, system design drills. Entry to the Engagetal hiring pool and direct intros to companies looking for your stack.

Income Share Agreement

₹0upfront

Join the Fellowship at zero cost. Once you're employed and earning above ₹10 LPA CTC, you pay 10% of your pre-tax monthly income for 24 months, capped at ₹4 lakhs total.

  • Zero payment during the Fellowship
  • 10% of pre-tax monthly income, payments only kick in once your CTC is above ₹10 LPA
  • 24-month payment term. That's the hard stop, no extensions.
  • Maximum total repayment: ₹4,00,000. You will never pay more than this.
  • If your income drops below ₹10 LPA again, payments pause automatically

Bottom line: you only pay when you're earning well, you're never on the hook for more than ₹4 lakhs total, and payments stop dead at 24 months regardless. If you earn less than ₹10 LPA the entire time, you pay nothing.

Fellowship FAQ

The questions we get most.

Who is the Fellowship for?
Engineers with some programming foundation, typically 1-3 years of self-taught or junior experience, who want to become genuinely senior. If you can solve a medium Leetcode problem and have built one real thing end-to-end, you can handle the Fellowship.
What's the selection process?
A written application, a short technical screen, and a 45-minute conversation with a senior engineer on our panel. We select for raw problem-solving, ownership instinct, and communication, not prestige.
Is the Fellowship full-time?
Yes. This is a full-time commitment of six months. You'll write code and ship daily. Part-time participation is not supported because the outcomes don't hold up.
What happens if I drop out?
If you paid upfront: refunds on a sliding scale based on how much of the program you completed, full details in the enrollment contract. If you're on the ISA: the ISA is voided and you owe nothing. We'd rather you find the right path than be locked into the wrong one.
Do I have to take a job through Engagetal?
No. You can take a job on your own. The ISA activates based on your income, not the source of your employment. Many Fellows take roles from our hiring pool because of the match quality, but it's your call.
Is the ISA legally binding?
Yes. The ISA is a formal agreement signed at enrollment. We'll walk you through every clause before you sign and you're welcome to have your own lawyer review it. The 24-month term and ₹4 lakh cap are written in; we can't and won't change them after signing.
What counts as "earning over ₹10 LPA"?
Total CTC above ₹10,00,000 per annum from salaried employment or equivalent self-employed income. If you're between jobs or earning below ₹10 LPA, payments pause. When you clear the threshold again, they resume. The 24-month clock only runs while you're paying.
